Is the iPhone’s water resistance a marketing trick?

Apple has been promising water resistance on its iPhone models for many years. However, according to a new incident, the company said that the iPhone that broke down due to liquid contact was out of warranty. In this context, the company was sued.

A new lawsuit filed in Canada is about Apple’s failure to repair iPhones that come into contact with water. According to the investigation, the tech giant must cover the cost of repairing iPhones that come in contact with water because it claims that they are waterproof.

The lawsuit, filed by LPC Avocats, centers on an iPhone user’s poolside incident. According to the report, when the user tried to get his phone repaired by Apple, he was told that damage caused by liquid contact was not covered under warranty.

The end of an era for Toyota, Honda and Nissan?

Toyota, Honda and Nissan sales are down. The Chinese market has failed to meet sales expectations for seven months.

Accordingly, it turned out that Apple refused free repair. The investigation disagrees with Apple’s decision and criticizes the marketing gimmick of the iPhone’s water resistance. “Apple advertises that the iPhone can fall into a pool and be fine, but then excludes liquid contact from warranty coverage,” the report said.

The lawsuit demands that Apple remove the liquid contact clause from the warranty terms and pay customers for water-damaged phones. Accordingly, users can receive compensation of up to 500 dollars.

According to the plaintiff’s statement, the warranty clause on liquid contact contradicts Apple’s own advertisements. This violates consumer protection laws. Apple has allegedly been stating for many years that iPhones can be submerged in water, but does not cover the cost of repairing liquid contact.
